No Winner? A Tournament Contest Surprise at 1800STENCIL!
Hoops Madness always brings excitement, surprises, and the occasional busted bracket—but this year, our NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Contest delivered something we never expected:
No one picked Michigan to win it all!
That’s right, out of all the entries we received, not a single person selected Michigan as the tournament champion. Pretty incredible when you consider there was $1,750 in FREE STENCILS on the line!
A Friendly Family Debate
This unexpected result created a little dilemma here at 1800STENCIL.
My brother Kurt believed we should award the prizes to the second-place finishers. Seven contestants had picked UCONN, which made them the closest predictions.
I wasn’t so sure.
My argument? When you place a wager at the sports book, they pay the winner of the pool—not second place!
Naturally, this led to a spirited debate while we were driving back from visiting a customer in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The Compromise Everyone Can Cheer For
After going back and forth, we reached what we think is the perfect solution.
Instead of selecting just three winners for prizes of:
- $1,000 - 1st Place
- $500 - 2nd Place
- $250 - 3rd Place
We decided to reward ALL SEVEN CONTESTANTS who picked UCONN, with a $250 stencil certificate from 1800STENCIL.
And here’s the funny part—that adds up to the exact same $1,750 prize pool we originally planned to give away!
